EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN 

GEORGIAN BAY TITANS RFC

 Home games are played at: Collingwood Collegiate Institute, 6 Cameron St., Collingwood, ON L9Y 2J2 

These items must be present at home games and practices:

·        Fully stocked medical kit.

·        Cellular telephone for Call Person

·        Physiotherapist, trainer or other certified first aid personnel.  

When an injury occurs, three roles are required:

A CHARGE PERSON, CALL PERSON AND CONTROL PERSON  

CHARGE PERSON

This pre-designated individual will be responsible for managing and coordinating the emergency situation. This person will activate the Emergency Action Plan when deemed necessary. This person also assesses the situation and injury status of the athlete. The Charge Person will appoint a CALL PERSON and CONTROL PERSON.  

CALL PERSON

This person is appointed prior to the game or practice. This individual will be required to activate the emergency system by calling 911 and informing the dispatcher the nature of the medical emergency with the following information:  

·        Type of emergency (injuries sustained by player/number of casualties).

·        If neck or spinal injury is suspected, NO ATTEMPT SHOULD BE MADE TO MOVE THE PLAYER until medical help arrives.

·        Level of consciousness.

·        Is the injured player bleeding?

·        What type of first aid has been administered.  

Directions to Collingwood Collegiate Institute, 6 Cameron St. Collingwood

·        Turn Right on Hume St. 

·        Turn Left on Hurontario St./ Provincial Route 124/ CR 24 

·        Follow 124 to Collingwood Collegiate Institute on right at Cameron St.

·        Provide number of cell phone from which you are calling.

·        Ask for estimated time of arrival.

·        Wait for arrival of ambulance and provide directions to injured party.  

REMEMBER – LET DISPATCHER TERMINATE THE CALL  

The Call Person will report back to the Charge Person that the ambulance has been called and provide an estimated time of arrival.  

CONTROL PERSON

This person is appointed prior to the game or practice. This individual is expected to keep the crowd away from the injured player/person and be in control of the situation. Referee and touch judge assistance should be considered.
